Synopsis
A dark story inspired by Medusa’s sister Evryali and a piece of unplayable piano music composed by Iannis Xenakis in 1973.
Background
To gorgonise — an old English word based on Greek meaning *to have a paralysing effect on someone*.
Evryali is a Gorgon, Medusa’s sister, noted for her petrifying gaze and bellowing cries. Unlike Medusa who was a mortal cursed, Evryali was immortal.
The music piece *Evryali* for solo piano cannot physically be played — the player has to choose which notes to play and which not to, resulting in a performance that transcends form and function.
